Very true, Poe was spot on. The murder of a beautiful woman seems to draw so much attention. Also when they put a handle of prostitute on the victim is wrong because she was probably a Mother, daughter or sister.
I don't remember this particular song, and normally thos guy is not someone I'd want to hear a song about, but... Neko Case has one of the best /most haunting/soothing/evocative-of-unknown-yearnings-after-something-also-unknown voices test ever existed, so 1st up on my playlist next time I drive
I really appreciate the distinction you make here. So many stories about serial killers end up centering the killer, while the victims slowly disappear into the background. Focusing instead on remembrance, dignity, and the lives that were stolen gives this piece a very different emotional weight. A powerful beginning to the series.
